Beta Kappa has always felt that community service is of utmost importance. This ideal, of giving back has dedicated much of our time in helping the UMBC community as well as the Baltimore/Washington Metropolitan Area. Our main goal is to initiate the following community service projects with hopes that we will encourage others to become involved as well.

The Sisters of Beta Kappa Chapter and volunteers visit local middle schools, soup kitchens, and have also worked to raise funds to help the efforts of finding a cure for Multiple Sclerosis. Programs and co-sponsorship with offices such as the Women Center provide informative programs on Date Rape, Self Defense, and Stress/Time Management and Health Awareness. Beta Kappa chapter has also incorporated the awareness of Breast Cancer amongst women and men of all ages.

Currently the chapter is working on projects/programs such as Girls Inc. (Mentoring Program), Educating the UMBC community on Women’s Rights against Domestic/Abusive Violence, as well as participating in local Blood Drives.

Just as our principles state – UNITY is not only amongst our sisterhood but also as a college community we strive to promote that sisterhood goes above and beyond the Greek community. The LOVE and RESPECT between women should be as significant as the virtues and moral we use daily. Because of these principles Lambda Theta Alpha Latin Sorority, Inc. – Beta Kappa Chapter is compelled to further recruit women to that will uphold this commitment of service to humanity.
